More about our Guest Speaker:
Naomi Herndon has served as the executive director of Turning Point, Inc. for seven years. Naomi is a native of Southern California and holds a master’s degree in educational psychology from California State University, Northridge. She and her husband of 30 years have a 24 year old daughter, a 28 year old son, and three grandchildren. Throughout her professional career, Naomi has worked with disenfranchised populations while fighting for social justice.
Located in Monroe, Turning Point is a 42-bed shelter for victims of domestic violence and is Union County’s only domestic violence shelter. Naomi created the agency’s first fund development department for outreach and donor support. She has also strengthened the agency’s relationship with local law enforcement agencies. Under her leadership, the agency established three domestic violence outreach resale stores, Second Chance Boutique by Turning Point, one in Monroe and the other in Waxhaw. The third store, Second Chance Home Décor, is also in Monroe.
Turning Point served over 300 victims of domestic violence last year and continues to impact lives every day. Naomi is honored to be directing this amazing organization, which provides critical and life saving services to victims of domestic violence.
